The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) was set up in June 2007 following the disbanding of the government's Department for Education and Skills (DfES). The DCSF is reponsible for issues facing young people up to nineteen years of age, as well as education issues.

The department is committed to enabling children to reach their full potential by providing demographic and socio-economic change; developing technology; and increasing global competition.
