Based in City Hall, the GLA aims to provide strategic direction for the future of London, comprising around 600 staff to help the London Mayor and Assembly in their responsibilities. The Mayor is London's spokesman. He leads the preparation of statutory strategies on transport, spatial development, economic development and the environment. A planning application for the cemetery´s expansion had been rejected by the local planning committee.
