The Greater London Authority forms strategic citywide government for London. Based in City Hall, the GLA aims to provide strategic direction for the future of London, comprising around 600 staff to help the London Mayor and Assembly in their responsibilities.

The Mayor is London's spokesman. He leads the preparation of statutory strategies on transport, spatial development, economic development and the environment. He sets budgets for the GLA, Transport for London, the London Development Agency, the Metropolitan Police and London's fire services.

Holocaust Memorial Ceremony at City Hall

20 January, 2012 - 10:23 The Greater London Authority (GLA) will hold its annual Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony in the Chamber at City Hall from 12pm-12:45pm on Tuesday 24 January. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Speak up Speak out’. The ceremony will commemorate all those who were victims of the Holocaust and other acts of genocide.
