HM REVENUE AND CUSTOMS ![]() Formed in April 2005, the government's HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is responsible for ensuring the collection of taxes paid by businesses and public, including excise duties, capital gains tax, corporation taxes, inheritance taxes, income tax and national insurance contributions, amongst others. Other aspects of the department's responsibilities include the distribution of child benefit and some other forms of state support including the Child Trust Fund, payments of Tax Credits, enforcement of the national minimum wage and collection and publication of the trade-in-goods statistics.
